Darwins-Argentina

Argentina

Science, Eco-Diversity & Culture
November 5-14, 2017

With optional excursion to Iguazu Falls, November 13-17, 2017

A breathtaking journey in the footsteps of Charles Darwin…
This modern day expedition begins in Buenos Aires, the city that Darwin grew to love for its rich culture and beautiful architecture. Here we will visit a nature reserve in a pampas wetland, enjoy a walking tour of the famed Four Balconies neighborhood, enjoy a dinner and tango show, and hear a short program on Darwin’s scientific explorations by a noted natural historian.Sea-lion-colony
Next we travel to a sheltered half-moon bay along Argentina’s central coast at the very edge of the Patagonia Steppe, Argentina’s secret and hidden Galapagos. We will stay at a private “green resort” and working Patagonian estancia set among more than 80,000 hectares of unspoiled wilderness. Activity options include day hikes, light trail cycling, a sail to visit sea lion and colorful marine bird colonies, Magellan penguins, and a seaweed harvesting operation. We will visit a petrified forest and a rock canyon with 15 meter walls formed by Jurassic Canyon-walls-from-the-Mesozoic-Erarocks from the Mesozoic era, enjoy swims in tide pools, and relax on white sand beaches where turquoise waters wash the shore. You even have an opportunity to lend a hand on a typical Patagonian sheep ranch.

Dirt roads bear names of seaweeds. The quiet is only interrupted by gusts of wind, the singing of hundreds of species of birds and the breaking of the waves on the shore. Peace reigns all around. Seaweed harvesters, biolSheep-romp-on-the-Patagonia Steppeogists, sheep ranchers, families, adventure-lovers, artists, guests from every corner
of the world, all find their place in this quiet haven.

Accommodations are 3-star equivalent with en-suite facilitieAccommodation at our Estancias; our green estancia resort, where our meals are taken together in their on-site dining room,  are small all-contained cabins overlooking the sea.
